VMFA-333, “Phoenix Squadron” Landing Party
Brigadier General Clark, OIC, reporting. Members of Phoenix Squadron toured the Fort Worth Aviation Museum today. This museum celebrates the history of aviation in Fort Worth, including local military airfields (past and present). There were displays on some of the aircraft that were produced locally, like the F-16, and on the historical aviation events that included Fort Worth. For example, the first non-stop round-the-world flight started and landed in Fort Worth: a USAF B-50, which was mid-air refueled several times in its journey. The Landing Party consisted of Lieutenant Colonel Tracy Clark, Commander Cynthia Crouch, Major Perry Brulotte, and Brigadier General Tank Clark. The “petting zoo” was the best part of the museum. The aircraft on display (missing such parts as engines) included an F-5, an A-7, a CH-53, an F-14, an F/A-18, and many, many more. Of course, OUR focus was on the F-4 Phantom II in the livery of the USMC’s VMFA-333. Our squadron was not deliberately named after this one, but serendipity is a wonderful thing. Following an enjoyable tour, we then relocated to “Heaven’s Gate”, a Mexican-American restaurant nearby that had wonderful food and pretty good service. A great day, with a great bunch of people. Clark, commanding the 333rd MSG, out
