3BDE Muster, Austin, TX I've returned from the Muster safely. It was a great trip; 28 Marines from all over the Brigade joined together for fun, fellowship, and other niftiness in Austin, TX. Panels at the muster included one on SFMC uniforms and one on wargames & role playing games (with an emphasis on games of typical Marine interests and Trek-related games. The Annual Meeting and Awards presentation was entertaining. Our Marine detachment VMFA-333 "Phoenix Squadron," was awarded the Recruiting Streamer, the Reporting Streamer, the Meritorious Unit Citation Streamer, and the Brigade S1 Streamer. Additionally, all members of the MSG were presented the Meritorious Unit Citation, and are entitled to wear that ribbon. Colonel Clark was additionally issued the Brigade Service Commendation, the Brigade Achievement Award, the Leader's Commendation, and the Marine Honor Guard Ribbon. Additionally, LT(JG) Michael Cross was issued the Community Service Citation and the Joint Services Ribbon. 1LT Roon Marchant, Ensign Perry Brulotte, and Ensign Amanda Fralicks have also been issued the Joint Services Ribbon. They will receive the certificates for these awards at the May Potluck, Awards, and Promotion dinner. Thirty brave souls attended the Marine Dinner. The location chosen was almost adequite... the food was acceptible, the service less so. This one hopes the next Marine Dinner will be much

Best of Both Worlds showing Fossil Creek UA Cinema, Fort Worth TX An enjoyable time was had at the Fossil Creek Cinema. In attendance were Colonel Clark, LCDR Clark, Ensign & Mrs. Brulotte (always nice to see Melissa!), LTJG Cross, Ensign Fralicks and Ensign Barnett, as well as our special guest Gen. Aaron Murphy. The show included some commentary from the cast & crew of the episode (on film, of course), the two-part episode in all its restored glory, and an amazing blooper reel. We passed out a few flyers & business cards; few people knew there was a Star Trek Fan Club in Fort Worth. One gentleman, Eric, seemed especially interested, and we hope we hear from him soon. The show let out around 2120 hrs, and we all made our way back to our quarters to rest up a bit for our regular duties on Friday. I will be taking a shuttle to Austin, to attend the 3BDE Muster. I'll be next writing in this Blog there. The Pennsylvania Regulators, in the shuttlecraft Conestoga, met at Jambronee's as usual. 10 people showed up and enjoyed the new ice cream. The Six Million Dollar Man and Doctor Who were on the TVs, whilst the group played some new Lord of the Rings games, both dice building (by WizKids) and deck building (by Crptozoic Games). Other games played included "The Resistance," and "Smash Up." Additionally, eight people indicated they planned to attend the "Best of Both Worlds" showing on Thursday.
Ship's Meeting Shady Oak's BBQ, Ft Worth Another great meeting. In attendance were Col Tank Clark, Comm Liz Goulet, LTJG Michael Cross, CDR Cynthia Crouch, LCDR Tracy Clark, 1LT Roon Marchant, Ens Amanda Fralicks, Ens Katelyn Barnett, and PO1 Michelle Goulet. Col Clark was re-elected (without opposition) as Commanding Officer, with Comm Goulet returning as First Officer. New department heads are: LTJG Cross, Bridge Department Head; ENS Fralicks, Chief Science Officer; ENS Brulotte, Chief of Security. The ship's Promotion committee is now LDCR Clark, MCPO Goulet, 1LT Marchant, and PO1 Goulet. The committee is headed by the Exec, COMM Goulet, and is directed to report recommendations to the Captain by 15 May. The ship's treasury was reported: $43.85. Expenses: $0.45 to mail a letter, and $5.40 to the Communications Officer for mailing expenses. The Captain also mentioned his expenses of about $45 for brochures and an additional $42 for business cards. The Captain also gave After-Action reports about the Good Day to Dine, the Game Day, and GI Joe: Retaliation. Tickets were passed out for the Landing Party at Fossil Creek Cinema on Thursday night to watch "Best of Both Worlds." We've also decided to move the May meeting/potluck supper/awards/promotion get-together to May 25th. It'll still be at the Goulet's house. On the 18th, we'll still be going to see the new Star Trek movie, Star Trek: Into Darkness, at the Fossil Creek Cinema. We'll be passing out flyers & cards as well. We've decided to attend the Fort Worth Cats game after the June meeting. We're looking into another Regulator Game Day, possibly somewhere more centrally located to our crew. Meanwhile, September is still "Mirror Month." Katelyn Barnett and Amanda Fralicks promoted to Ensign upon successful completion of STARFLEET Academy's Officer Training School (OTS), each with a grade of HONORS. Ensign Barnett is assigned to the Bridge Department as CONN officer, whilst Ensign Fralicks is assigned to the Medical Department as Head Nurse. Bravo Zulu to them both. Additionally, we've added Crewman Jake Kuykendall as a Local member. Until he requests another billet, Crewman Kykendall will be assigned to Engineering as a Holography Engineer. Welcome Aboard, Jake! Regulator Game Half-Day, Pizza Hut, Decatur, TX The crew of the Regulator were joined by our friends from the 340th MEU for a whole lot of fun. A total of fourteen of us (eight Regulators and six from the 340th) sat down for some pizza, drinks, and a wide variety of games. In addition to Star Trek: Catan (above), we had Star Trek UNO, Star Wars Life (A Jedi's Path), Trouble (with Tribbles), Castle Panic, and a card game whose name escapes me. The Hot Wheels tournament didn't get underway, although we all enjoyed playing with the cars. The day started at around 3pm, and we didn't leave until after 9pm. The Pizza Hut was wonderful to us, and would love to have us back for some future activity. Everyone had fun, and I'm hoping to schedule another one of these Game Days in the not-too-distant future. |
