Landing Party: Star Trek Beyond movie Texas Movie Bistro, 3980 Boat Club Road, Ft Worth, TX First Officer Clark, reporting. Members of the USS Regulator gathered to watch the latest Star Trek movie. In attendance were Commodore Clark, Commander Clark, and Chief Warrant Officer Wilkerson. The movie was quite enjoyable, and much more in the spirit of the Original Series than the other films set in the Kelvin Timeline. Many pleasant conversations were also held with other movie-goers and staff at the cinema, and we hope to see some of them at upcoming meetings and events. As a side comment, I quite liked the redesigned uniforms, both the ones worn on ship and the ones worn on the space station.

Ship's Meeting Shady Oaks BBQ, Ft Worth 1500 Hours First Officer Clark, reporting. The intrepid crew of the USS Regulator gathered again to share a meal, talk Trek, enjoy each other's company, and to be generally awesome. Members in attendance included Michael Cross; Tank and Tracy Clark; Melissa and Perry Brulotte; Scott Cornatzer; Alan, Liz, and Michelle Goulet; and Glen Wilkerson. Commodore Clark was Officer of the Deck, and as such, he presented this month's trivia quiz. The subject this month was the Original Series episode Wolf in the Fold. Captain Cross was this month's winner. We discussed plans for upcoming activities. First on our list is the Landing Party to see the new Star Trek movie, Star Trek: Beyond, at the Texas Movie Bistro, 3980 Boat Club Road, Ft Worth, 76135. Admiral Goulet will provide us with movie times as they become available, but we'll try to have a presence at the cinema for as long as we can. Captain Cross brought in the big box of our new business cards; they're very nice, and we're looking forward to distributing them. The next meeting for the Ship's Articles Committee is scheduled for 1500 hours on 13 August at Shady Oaks BBQ. This meeting may be cancelled as redundant, however -- the 2017 Articles are available for download (at http://ussregulator.weebly.com/uploads/1/3/0/5/13055239/regulator_articles_2017_160520.pdf); however, no one has recently found any corrections or other edits that are needed. Captain Cross will determine if we decide to cancel. FenCon is approaching, on the weekend of 24 September 2016 (11609.24); many of the crew are planning to attend. Upcoming Landing Parties include one to FenCon, the Marines' trip to the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, a possible trip to a Build-A-Bear to build Trek-related bears, a couple of possible Laser Tag excursions, as well as Chief Warrant Officer Wilkerson's "phaser practice." December's meeting will also probably be replaced by a Landing Party to see Star Wars: Rogue One, as it comes out on our meeting day -- it is hoped that the Sci-Fi Factory will be hosting the movie. Along with Landing Parties, we discussed how we really should have a single, "uniform" appearance -- and this led to a discussion about purchasing polo shirts with the new "Wrath of Khan"-style logo. This discussion continues in our Facebook group; hopefully we can get everyone into a polo by our next away mission (in August or September.) |
