Landing Party: Texas Civil War Museum, Fort Worth, TX Today's Landing Party members were: Brigadier Tank Clark, Commander Cynthia Crouch, Commander Tracy Clark, Chief Warrant Officer Glen Wilkerson, and Petty Officers Lora & Randall Weems. The group gathered at the Museum at 10:00, and entered not very long after the museum opened. We enjoyed the video presentation, which discussed the role Texas played in the Late Unpleasantness and some of what went on thereafter. We chose a good day to go, as there were some re-enactors present; they demonstrated a firing line several times, and displayed their replica uniforms, clothing, and equipment. The museum itself was outstanding. Along the north walls were Union artifacts; along the south, Confederate. The weapons, equipment, uniforms, clothing, tools, and flags each told a story. The museum also had a "Scavenger Hunt," in which one found numbered tags and answered questions about the display. There was a Navy section, and a whole room dedicated to Artillery as well. Additionally, the museum has a very large collection of period dresses & ladies' hats. After we'd seen everything we could see, we traveled to the West Side Cafe, and enjoyed a very flavorful meal, sharing more stories and discussing past glory. The walls of this restaurant are covered with photos of Western heroes, soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines, and aircraft -- it very much felt as though we were in a pilot's ready room. All in all, a very good day, with great company. Clark, commanding REGULATOR, out.

Ship's Meeting Shady Oak BBQ, Fort Worth, TX 1500 hours March's meeting was busy, well-attended, and fun. In attendance today were: Brigadier Clark, Rear Admiral Goulet, Commander Crouch, Commander Clark, Major Marchant, Lieutenant Commander Cross, Lieutenant Brulotte, Lieutenant Junior Grade Gabbert, Master Chief Goulet, Chief Goulet, Petty Officer Chaffin, and Crewman Brulotte. The Officer of the Deck was the Executive Officer, RADM Goulet, who had a great quiz about Leonard Nimoy. After-action reports were given by LCDR Cross about his representing the ship at the IKV Melota's Klingon Ball, and about him and Maj. Marchant attending All-Con. Additionally, BDR Clark discussed his experience at the movie "Kingsman: The Secret Service." Two votes were taken by the crew. The modification to the Ship's Articles were approved, slightly changing the Handbook section by adjusting the Departments of the ship (and incorporating the new hull number.) Additionally, 14 "Aye" votes, 4 "Abstains", and one "Nay" vote were recorded regarding the change of the ship to an Excelsior-class (Enterprise-B subclass). Nominations have closed on the Department Head elections as well as on the Captain election. There will be no need to hold Department Head elections, as only one candidate has been nominated for each department, with the new Navigation department currently unfilled. (BDR Clark has been nominated to fill the new Helm department, once he stands down as Captain.) The two officers standing for Captain are Lieutenant Commander Scott Cornatzer and Lieutenant Commander Michael Cross. The ship continues having fun, and enjoying ourselves. Clark, commanding Regulator, out. |
