Whilst some of our Pennsylvania crew attended the Farpoint Sci-Fi Convention near Baltimore, MD, the West Shore Sci-Fi Society's gamemaster, Eugene Connolly led the games at Jabronee's Pizza in Lemoyne, PA. There were four participants (Karen, Grace, Randall, and Eugene), who played "Richochet Robots," a board game that may be played by "2 to as many people that can see the board," as well as the DC Deck Building game. They also watched three Doctor Who episodes via Netflix -- the first 3 shows with Rose as the Doctor's Companion.
I'm eagerly awaiting a report from the Farpoint landing party.

Following the ship's meeting, Colonel Clark and Lieutenant Commander Clark went to see A Good Day to Die Hard at the Fossil Creek cinema. This was a great movie. I believe there were more cars destroyed as collateral damage here than in Blues Brothers and all three Transformer movies, combined. Bruce Willis returns as Dectective John McLaine, and continues to kick @ss without bothering to take names. An awesome, fun flick that I highly recommend. Go see it. Seriously. Remember how good "Skyfall" was? This is better. Ship's Meeting, Shady Oaks BBQ, Fort Worth, TX The ship's company came together for another great meeting today. A warm welcome to Jake, who visited us & who we hope will join the ship & STARFLEET. Members present: Colonel Tank Clark, Commondore Liz Goulet, Commander Cynthia Crouch, LCDR Tracy Clark, LT(JG) Michael Cross, Ensign Perry Brulotte, ENS (JG) Katelyn Barnett, & ENS (JG) Amanda Fralicks. For the Ship's Elections in April: Commodore Liz Goulet nominated me (Col Clark) as candidate for CO, with Ensign Perry Brulotte seconding the nomination. LT(JG) Michael Cross has thrown his name into the ring for Department Head of the Bridge Department, and Ensign Brulotte has done the same for the Security Department. Additionally, Ensign Brulotte has agreed to serve as Election Officer. At the beginning of the meeting, the ship had $26.00 in her funds; however, two more National members paid their dues, bringing our cash-on-hand up to $30.00 Our internet presence was discussed, including the Facebook group and the addition of the Captain's Blog section of the web site. It was agreed that I'd make sure to let everyone know via the FB group whenever I post something here. I also requested the crew to send me info they'd like me to post in the Blog, with pictures. The ending of the Motel 6 Discount via STARFLEET was mentioned, and I also told everyone about our landing party's visit to the C. R. Smith Museum, as well as my visit to see Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. Ensigns Brulotte and Barnett shared about seeing Warm Bodies. The crew approved the plan for a Game Half-Day on 06 Apr 2013 (Stardate 11304.06). I will contact the Pizza Hut tomorrow to ensure we've got the room booked, and post an invite to ships in Zone 1, IKV Melota, and anyone else we can think of. Additionally, the movie cinema near we meet will be showing both parts of the two-part Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, "The Best of Both Worlds" on Thursday 25 Apr 2013 at 1900 hours local (Stardate 11304.25/1700). We're organizing a landing party to attend, and will invite the rest of Zone 1. Departmental reports were received. Whilst I was giving the Marine's report, Katelyn expressed a desire to join the squadron as a Marine Reservist, in order to participate in the Reading Challenge. I will make the changes I can in the DB, and request the BDE OIC to make sure she's listed as part of the 333rd Marine Strike Group. Zone 1 Meeting (via Skype) Representatives from the USS Regulator, USS Navras, USS Rachel Garrett, USS Tejas, and the Retribution Station, met this evening and discussed items and activities of interest to elements of Zone 1. Items discussed included the upcoming Regulator Game Half-Day, the Good Day to Dine, the Navras' Laser Tag away mission, the Shuttle program (mentioned in a recent Starfleet Communique), and the difference between a Marine Strike Group and a Marine Expeditionary Unit. LCDR Kraly and LT (JG) Erb participated in the West Shore Science Fiction Society's gaming day at Giant Food Store in Camp Hill, PA. The Game Master, Eugene Connolly, ran the meeting. Eugene and his family of three are considering joining the USS Regulator & STARFLEET to possibly take advantage of the SFI Scholarship. There was a light dusting of snow to complicate things, but enough people showed up to make it worthwhile to hold activities seperate from the society's meetings. Right now, they're looking at holding this type of event on a quarterly (every three months) basis. There was a lot of table space with good lighting. Flyers were handed out to a few interested people, as well. The first game was DC Deck Building; four played & the rest finished eating Next, they played the Dr. Who game -- a full game of four people. Mr. Connolly is working with the store owner of That Game Place (Charlie) on The USS Regulator's landing party met up with the crew of the IKS Maelstrom at the American Airlines C. R. Smith Museum near DFW Airport. The tour was awesome. The museum is home to many exhibits of civil aviation history, and includes items like models, uniforms, equipment, engines, helmets, and tools. Currently, there's an exhibit called "Black Wings", which informed us about the history of negro aviators (such as the famous Tuskegee Airmen.) The museum is also home to a DC-3 that guests are allowed to enter, sit in, and explore. In my opinion, the DC-3, called the "Flagship Knoxville" was worth the entry fee by itself. After the tour, the crews visited the museum's gift shop, where most of us acquired treats of Freeze Dried Ice Cream as well as other mementos of our visit. Immediately following, we journeyed to near-by Grapevine to enjoy lunch with the DFW Area Browncoats, a loose organization of Firefly/Serenity fans in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Browncoats have a rotating meeting schedule, and go to three different restaurants in the DFW area: the Ol' South Pancake House in Fort Worth, the Main Street Bistro in Grapevine, and a place in Richardson the name of which escapes me. I have attended a few meetings in the past at the Fort Worth location, but this is the first time In a long time I've had the first Saturday of the month off. Based on their service today in this joint mission, I will recommend 1LT Roon Marchant, ENS Perry Brulotte, and ENS(JG) Amanda Fralicks for a Joint Service Ribbon. Mr. Marchant & Ms. Fralicks served today with the crew of the IKS Maelstrom, and Mr. Brulotte participated in the meeting of the Browncoats. Everyone had fun today, which means our primary mission was accomplished. As we returned to our separate shuttlecraft, Perry and Katelyn indicated their intentions to see the new movie, "Warm Bodies." I look forward to hearing their reports on it. |
