Ship's Meeting
Shady Oak's BBQ, Ft Worth, TX The ship had a busy meeting today. In attendance were:
CDR Clark was the Officer of the Deck; her trivia quiz was called "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and it was about weather in Texas. CWO Wilkerson and CPO Goulet both got every answer correct. Ship's Dues are payable from Jan thru Mar. Most of the crew in attendance today payed their dues. Remember, you must be a dues-paid member to vote in any ship elections; dues are $2.00/year. After-Action Reports on the Hobbit movie Landing Party of December, and the Holiday party of earlier this month, were given. The ship's calendar thru May was discussed: 21 Feb & 21 Mar are both standard meeting dates at Shady Oak's (at which nominations for CO & Department Heads will be made), and 18 April will be the Spring Thing/Promotions/Elections meeting, possibly at the Main Event in either Grapevine or in Arlington. The May meeting -- and official Change of Command --is rescheduled to 09 May, as Region 3 Summit/3BDE Muster is on the weekend of 15-17 May. (www.r3summit2015.org) BDR Clark made a motion: "Subject to STARFLEET approval, to change USS REGULATOR, ACHILLES-class, NCC-73337 to EXCELSIOR-class (ENTERPRISE-B sub-class) NCC-2333. If seconded, I propose this be voted on at the March meeting (21 Mar 2015), and that it require a 2/3 majority of dues-paid members to pass. Votes may be submitted via e-mail to [email protected] no later than midnight 20 Mar 2015." This motion was seconded by LT Brulotte, and passed with no nay votes. All dues-paid members are encouraged to vote as early as they can. Mr. Brulotte is also going to set up a voting form using Google. He also made a second motion, to form a Committee of the Whole to review the Ship's Articles (the Handbook, General Orders, and Constitution). This was seconded by LCDR Cross and passed by acclamation. On the ship's Facebook group, a draft of a revised Articles is available for perusal, and comments and recommendations are welcome either there or by direct email to [email protected]. (Please note the real-world areas of responsibility each department has, and the new/re-organized departments in the draft handbook.) After departmental reports, the meeting adjourned and we moved outside to give a Death Howl in honor of Brigadier General Mark A. West (ret), a former Captain of the Regulator, who passed away in December 2014.

Crew Meeting, ISS Regulator Flip's Patio Grill Fort Worth, TX The mighty crew of the Regulator returned to Flip's Patio Grill for our yearly Mirror Mirror Month Meeting. In attendance were Brigadier Tank Clark, Rear Admiral Liz Goulet, Commander Cynthia Crouch, Commander Tracy Clark, Marine Captain Roon Marchant, Lieutenant Michael Cross, Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Perry Brulotte, Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Sean Washburn, Chief Warrant Officer Glen Wilkerson, Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Goulet, Chief Petty Officer Michelle Goulet, Petty Officer Second Class Karen Chaffin, Crewman Laura Washburn and Crewman Melissa Brulotte. MCPT Marchant was Officer of the Deck, and he brought an unusual, and short, quiz that was won by Cmn Brulotte (with second place going to BDR Clark). The winner of the "How I'd Kill The Captain" story contest was "Secrets," by LT Cross. All of the entries this year were great fun to read, and they are available to download from the home page of the Regulator's web site (ussregulator.weebly.com), as well as from the Mirror site (issregulator.weebly.com). Thanks again to our special judges, MGN Edward Tunis III and MCPT Sarah Hays. After-Action Reports were given. First, three of the Regulator crew attended the Lone Star Warrior's Association's Good Day to Dine in Arlington. LTJG Brulotte, CWO Wilkerson, and Cmn Brulotte represented the ship honorably. Secondly, BDR Clark reported on his & CDR Clark's scouting mission to Fredericksburg (see separate Blog entry). Discussion of future events included the "stealth" mission to Main Event Grapevine next Saturday at 1700; next month's Klingon Dinner Thing in Decatur; the Alliance Air Show in late October; the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes in November; the holiday party in January; and the nominations for the next CO & Department Heads beginning in February, with the election in April. It was also agreed that the crew would be polled regarding a possible change of ship class, hull number, and name, to move the ship's fictional existence to back in the TOS era. When the chapter was formed, the chapter was the USS Comanche, a Galaxy-class starship; ten years later, the chapter became the USS Regulator, an Achilles-class starship. TOS era ship classes mentioned were the Constitution-class (like the original series' Enterprise) and Archer-class (like the USS Sagittarius in the Star Trek: Vanguard and Star Trek: Seekers novel series). It is certainly something to discuss. For the Empire! Clark, commanding Regulator, out. The Sci-Fi Factory (the Official Shore Leave location and favorite game store) bought out a theater for a private showing of Guardians of the Galaxy! This event was attended by Lt Cross, LTJG Barnett, LTJG Fralicks, LTJG Brulotte and his lovely wife Melissa. As part of the admission price we were given a soda and a bag of popcorn. The movie was spectacular! The company was great and Sci Fi Factory raised over $1400 for charity! They plan on doing it again for Avengers 2 and I truly hope to attend! Ship's Meeting Shady Oaks BBQ, Fort Worth, TX There was another nice turnout for our Ship's Meeting. In attendance were: BDR Clark (and Kang, his Treecat from the planet Sphinx), CDR Clark, LTJG Brulotte and his wife Melissa, LTJG Barnette, LTJG Fralicks, LT Cross, MCPT Marchant, MCPO Goulet, RADM Goulet, PO2 Chaffin, CDR Crouch, LT Cornatzer, and our special guest (and VRC) VADM Murphy. Our ship's Chief Medical Officer, CDR Clark, served as Officer of the Deck and provided the trivia quiz for this month's meeting. I believe everyone learned how little we knew about old nursery rhymes. Following a brief discussion of ship's funds and the Academy classes our ship's crew took, After-Action Reports were given on the ship's trip to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History to see the Indiana Jones exhibit. Then, we discussed some upcoming ship activities. Our Official Game Store, the Sci-Fi Factory, has invited the USS REGULATOR to attend a private showing of "Guardians of the Galaxy." September is Mirror-Mirror Month II; October is our Klingon Dinner Thing and the airshow at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport. We also have decided to have as our December activity to be an away mission to see the third Hobbit movie, and postpone our holiday party to the first weekend in January. We also reviewed the guidelines for bidding for a Region 3 Summit. The crew remains in favor of bidding for the 2017 Summit. Clark, commanding REGULATOR, out Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology: The Exhibition. Fort Worth Museum of Science & History Combined Landing Party: USS REGULATOR/USS RACHEL GARRETT Three Marines from the USS Regulator were joined by the Captain of the USS Rachael Garrett to explore the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History, concentrating on the traveling "Indiana Jones" exhibit. The landing party, consisting of CWO Glen Wilkerson, CDR Tracy Clark, BDR Tank Clark, and VADM Marian L. Murphy, arrived in three separate shuttles and joined up at around 1300 hours and were issued tablets by museum staff. These tablets enabled us to learn more details about the items being exhibited, as well as to participate in an interactive "treasure hunt." The exhibit had areas dedicated to each of the four "Indiana Jones" movies, as well as sections on real archaeology. The props on display were awesome. It was wonderful to get so close to these various things, as it enabled us to experience the great detail the artists put into them. There were mannequins dressed in costumes from the movies, and some of the other well-known props, like the idol from the beginning of "Raiders of the Lost Ark", a sarcophagus from the Well of Souls, the Ark itself, Coronado's Cross from "Temple of Doom", the shield of the knight from "Last Crusade", as well as both of the Grails... and many more. The exhibits on real archaeology were fascinating, too. Treasures from the ancient city of Ur, ancient coins from many cultures, papyrus from Ancient Egypt... lots of really ancient stuff.
Next, CWO Wilkerson returned to his shuttle, whilst BDR Clark and CDR Clark went to examine the "Dino Dig" section of the museum. Very interesting items on display here, but this section was clearly oriented more for children than adults. After ensuring we'd explored the whole area available to us, we returned to our shuttle. One should maintain situational awareness, however, even as the landing party mission is coming to a close. Clark, commanding Regulator, out.
Ship's Meeting Shady Oaks BBQ Fort Worth, TX We had a pretty full group for our meeting, today. In attendance were: BDR Clark, RADM Goulet, CPO Goulet, MCPO Goulet, CDR Clark, LTJG Walshburn, LTJG Barnett, LTJG Fralicks, LTJG Gabbert, LTJG Brulotte, LT Cross, & MCPT Marchant.
Mr Brulotte was the Officer of the Deck, and his trivia quiz was on Klingons. It was a lot of fun, but somehow only I managed to answer every question correctly. After-Action Reports were given, and included reports on Summit & Muster (and awards from that event); NASA, the USS CAVALLA, USS STEWART, the barque ELISSA, the USS TEXAS, LTJG Fralicks' graduation, MCPT Marchant's Away Mission with the 501st Legion to the FW Museum/Indiana Jones exhibit, LT Cross's Away Mission with DFW Area Cosplayers in support of the Ronald McDonald House, and two movies (How to Train Your Dragon II, Maleficent). Upcoming activities discussed include the ship's Landing Party to the Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology: The Exhibition at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1300hrs on Saturday 05 July 2014 (Stardate 11407.05); Mirror Month II (in September); Klingon Dinner Thing (in October). We also discussed the future bid for hosting Summit & Muster (in 2017, by Zone rotation). As always, we had a great time, and are all looking forward to the next time we can get together. Clark, commanding REGULATOR, out. Region 3 Summit/3BDE Muster Houston, TX Our shuttle arrived in the late afternoon on 11406.06. After settling in, we made ourselves ready for, and later attended, the 3BDE Dress Mess. CWO Wilkerson joined CDR Clark and BDR Clark at the Mess... which was a glorious evening, full of fun, toasts, fairly tasty food, and wonderful company. BDR Clark served as Oracle of the Mess. The Mess itself went off without a noticeable hitch, and we later retired to our quarters to prepare for the next day. Saturday was an early start, as BDR Clark once again served as a member of the Color Guard for opening ceremonies, and we had to practice quite a bit for the benefit of the less-experienced members. The day passed quickly. BDR Clark changed uniforms quite often (from the DS9 uniform to the Voyager uniform, to the Mirrorverse uniform -- in which I attended Marine Muster -- and finally to my "Wrap of Khan" uniform. Awards issued at Muster to REGULATOR/Phoenix Squadron members are: * Brigade Service Commendation Thomas Clark * Brigade Achievement Award Thomas Clark, Roon Marchant * Leader's Commendation Thomas Clark, Tracy Clark CDR Clark and I participated in the Final Mission ceremony -- she in her TOS Dress, and I in my Wrap of Khan. Awards issued at the Summit awards dinner to REGULATOR members are: * Region 3 Commendation Perry Brulotte, Scott Cornatzer, Alan Goulet, Karen Chaffin, Elizabeth Goulet, Roon Marchant * Silver Pillar Michael Chross * Golden Pillar Thomas Clark * Distinguished Service Award Thomas Clark * Commanding Officer of the Year (2013) Thomas Clark Many vodka-infused Blue Peeps were enjoyed by many people, and we finished out the evening playing games & chatting in the lounge. Ship's Meeting Shady Oaks BBQ, Fort Worth, TX 1700 HRS First order of business in May was a brief meeting of the Department Heads. Departments represented: Medical, Communications, Councilor, Bridge Specialists, and Deck Division (Boatswain) -- 5 out of 7. The DH's met to fill vacancies at Chief Science Officer and Chief of Security, in accordance with General Order 3.1.A. LTJG Colin Gabbert was appointed to the position of Chief Science Officer. LT Scott Cornatzer was appointed to the position of Chief of Security. After this business, the DH meeting was adjourned, and the regular Crew meeting was called to order. In attendance this month were: BDR Tank Clark, COMM Liz Goulet, CDR Cynthia Crouch, CDR Tracy Clark, LT Scott Cornatzer, LT Michael Cross, CWO Glen Wilkerson, MCPO Alan Goulet, and CPO Michelle Goulet. MCPT Roon Marchant, LTJG Perry Brulotte, and LTJG Sean Washburn were on an Away Team to Dallas ComiCon. This month's trivia quiz was on Disney Villians (in honor of the upcoming movie, "Malevelant." Three of the crew scored a 90%, so a d3 was rolled to determine the winner of the prize, a movie poster from Star Trek: Generations. The ship agreed that we would contribute our $15.00 RAP, at Summit. Only three members have indicated that they would attend Summit & Muster this year (the Captain, the CMO, and CWO Wilkerson). As Liz Goulet indicated she was not going to attend, she was "frocked" to Rear Admiral (with the official date of promotion being in June 2014). Congratulations to our new admiral, and may God have mercy on her soul. After-Action reports were received on Godzilla (by Lt Cornatzer -- a positive report on a recommended movie) and on Texas Frightmare Weekend (by Lt Cross, a wonderful, fun-filled convention at which we may try to make an official presence in the future.) After a review of our upcoming calendar, we discussed the possibility of the USS REGULATOR taking "point" on putting on a Region 3 Summit in the future (2016 at the earliest). Thoughts included using a hotel in Grapevine, TX, so that we could have a Sunday trip to Fort Worth Stockyards via the Tarantula steam train; using Main Event for a Laser Tag event for the Marines, possibly getting the old cinema on Main Street to show Wrath of Khan (as they usually do a couple of times a year anyway.) It was agreed that "the same old Summit" should be avoided; that if we do this, we should get everything organized and announced early & often, and that we should make the rest of the Region jealous that they aren't Regulators. The ship agreed to actively research putting on a summit, and the Captain has permission to discuss this with the RC. Clark, commanding REGULATOR, out. Spring Thing Trail Dust Steakhouse, Arlington, TX We had a great turnout for our meeting/awards & promotion Spring Thing. The turnout was nice: COMM Goulet, MCPO Goulet, CWO Wilkerson, LTJG Gabbert (and his lovely fiance), BDR Clark, LT Cross, LTJG Brulotte (and his lovely bride), MCPT Marchant, CPO Goulet, Cmn Strickland, CDR Clark, PO3 Chaffin, LTJG Barnett, and LT Cornazer. The Department Head elections for Science and for Security were announced. LT Cornatzer has put in his letter of intent for Security Chief; LTJG Gabbert has done so for Chief Science Officer. Promotions: SFI members: Katelyn Barnett, Amanda Fralicks, and Colin Gabbert, all promoted to LTJG. LOCAL members: Eugene Connolly, Grace Connolly, Karen Connolly, Ben Hodges, Brittnie Hodges, Alisha Morgan, John Morgan, and Pat Morgan to Petty Officer Third Class; Randall Weems to Petty Officer Second Class. Awards: Doodad (11404.12, Game Day/Charity fund raiser) to BDR Clark, LT Cross, MCPT Marchant, LTJG Brulotte, LTJG Gabbert, Cmn Strickland Doodad (11403.01, Dallas Comic & Pop Expo) to BDR Clark, LT Cross, LTJG Gabbert, CDR Clark Doodad (11401.11 Game Day) to COMM Goulet, MCPO Goulet, CPO Goulet, LTJG Brulotte, CWO Wilkerson, MCPT Marchant, BDR Clark, LT Cross, LTJG Gabbert, CDR Clark, Cmn Strickland Doodad (11311.16, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes) to BDR Clark, LT Cross, CDR Clark Doodad (11311.02 Game Day) to COMM Goulet, MCPO Goulet, LTJG Brulotte, MCPT Marchant, BDR Clark, LT Cross, LTJG Gabbert, CDR Clark Autocrat's Sceptre, 3rd Class to LT Cross, for Game Day 11401.11, for DCP Expo 11403.01, for Game Day 11404.12, and for Spring Thing 11404.26 |
