Ship's Meeting
Shady Oak's BBQ, Ft Worth, TX The ship had a busy meeting today. In attendance were:
CDR Clark was the Officer of the Deck; her trivia quiz was called "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and it was about weather in Texas. CWO Wilkerson and CPO Goulet both got every answer correct. Ship's Dues are payable from Jan thru Mar. Most of the crew in attendance today payed their dues. Remember, you must be a dues-paid member to vote in any ship elections; dues are $2.00/year. After-Action Reports on the Hobbit movie Landing Party of December, and the Holiday party of earlier this month, were given. The ship's calendar thru May was discussed: 21 Feb & 21 Mar are both standard meeting dates at Shady Oak's (at which nominations for CO & Department Heads will be made), and 18 April will be the Spring Thing/Promotions/Elections meeting, possibly at the Main Event in either Grapevine or in Arlington. The May meeting -- and official Change of Command --is rescheduled to 09 May, as Region 3 Summit/3BDE Muster is on the weekend of 15-17 May. (www.r3summit2015.org) BDR Clark made a motion: "Subject to STARFLEET approval, to change USS REGULATOR, ACHILLES-class, NCC-73337 to EXCELSIOR-class (ENTERPRISE-B sub-class) NCC-2333. If seconded, I propose this be voted on at the March meeting (21 Mar 2015), and that it require a 2/3 majority of dues-paid members to pass. Votes may be submitted via e-mail to [email protected] no later than midnight 20 Mar 2015." This motion was seconded by LT Brulotte, and passed with no nay votes. All dues-paid members are encouraged to vote as early as they can. Mr. Brulotte is also going to set up a voting form using Google. He also made a second motion, to form a Committee of the Whole to review the Ship's Articles (the Handbook, General Orders, and Constitution). This was seconded by LCDR Cross and passed by acclamation. On the ship's Facebook group, a draft of a revised Articles is available for perusal, and comments and recommendations are welcome either there or by direct email to [email protected]. (Please note the real-world areas of responsibility each department has, and the new/re-organized departments in the draft handbook.) After departmental reports, the meeting adjourned and we moved outside to give a Death Howl in honor of Brigadier General Mark A. West (ret), a former Captain of the Regulator, who passed away in December 2014.

Members of the crew gathered to celebrate the new year. Hosted by CDR Crouch, attendees included Lt Brulotte, RADM Goulet, MCPO Goulet, CPO Goulet, PO Chaffin, CDR Clark, and BDR Clark.
We had a blast, eating various potluck dishes and chatting before the Ferengi gift exchange. The Goulet family also brought party favors for everyone. Toward the end of the evening, Chief Goulet also led us in a toast in memory of Mark West, whose body was found on Christmas Eve. Clark, commanding Regulator, out. |
