Hi All,
Sorry for many no show reports. I have been busy with the Star Trek Attack Wing Game. The group playing Attack Wing is 6 players and growing. The game played at the last meeting was Gravwell. It plays 1 - 4 players. You are trying to escape from the 9th Dimension. Coming out of a black hole is hard work and you need to work off other ships. The game plays well and the directions are clearly written. It is a fun game; which, the play is quick only 20 to 35 mins for the entire game. Unlike a lot of new games, clean up is quick to only 7 pawns and 30 cards with a game board. February has a lot of new games coming out, including the next set of DC deck building game and Street Fighter deck building game. The next set of Attack Wing is coming(the one in 2 months will have the Borg YES THE BORG). A lot of Firefly games are coming out plus the ones all ready out. I got the Firefly series and watch it. I see a lot of good games can be made from it, even if you don't like the series. Game Master, Eugene Connolly

This is the report from our Pennsylvania members: (John Erb reporting) At the August 17th meeting, Eugene Connolly, Mike Leahy, Matt Arment, and myself discussed the future direction of the West Shore Regulators. Eugene suggested that there should be four officers: a president, vice-president, game master, and communications officer. We intend to hold an election for these four positions within six months. During that time we intend to engage in a membership drive to encourage people to sign up as voting members so that they can participate in that election. No dues will be charged to become a member. We only intend to ask for names and contact information. To qualify as a voting member, the candidate must attend three meetings out of the next five and state his intention to become a voting member. From now on meetings will not be restricted to only one activity. We intend to bring a variety of games and videos for the attendees to choose from, including the society's XBOX game console and its accompanying games. I will also bring my own Blu-ray player. Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the FATE RPG system that Eugene will be running. Player handbooks and "fudge-dice" will be available from him at a discounted price or at That Game Place locally for $10 plus tax. Landing Party: Fossil Creek UA Cinema, Fort Worth, TX Star Trek: Into Darkness recruiting table The USS Regulator sent out lots of landing parties Saturday. Landing Party Alfa, consisting of the Captain, First Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Security Chief, and Ship's Counselor, transported to the Fossil Creek Cinema to talk to people about STARFLEET and the USS Regulator. Several people stopped by to talk with us. We rotated positions often, allowing those of us who hadn't yet seen the movie to enjoy it ourselves. As usual, time will only tell if we'll increase in membership, but we succeeded in our mission of advertising the existence -- and awesomeness -- of the ship. Meanwhile, Landing Party Bravo, consisting of our West Shore Regulators in conjunction with an element of the Royal Mantacoran Navy, the HMS Manticore, went to see the movie at the FLAGSHIP Theatre, Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA. A total of 8 persons participated in this landing party, and they went out for dinner afterwards at a Chinese buffet. Our third team, Landing Party Charlie, consisting of our Second Officer, Chief Engineer, Chief Science Officer, and our Conn officer, transported to the Irving Convention Center (Irving, TX) to enjoy the Dallas Comic-Con. I'm eagerly awaiting a more detailed report, but early reports indicate much fun was had by all. I foresee an image with one or more of the ensigns in this party standing near a TARDIS... Upon returning to the ship, I've discovered my personal supply of bloodwine missing from my quarters. I suppose with most of the senior crew (as well as many of the junior officers) away from the ship on one of these landing parties, someone decided it was safe to "party." My disrupter doesn't have an "awesome," "fabulous," or "dark side" setting, nor does it have a stun setting, but it does have a "It will NEVER happen again!" setting. The "Paxton Boys" had to make a last-minute tactical adjustment for the meeting of the West Shore Science Fiction Society (WSSFS). Their normal meeting location, Jabronee's, was unexpectedly closed, so they instead met at the Giant Food Store - Camp Hill Mall in the coffee cafe. Games played include Wacky Wacky West, Martian Dice & Martian Fluxx, and Centinels Multiverse, and a report on Gallifrey One (15-17 Feb 2013, Los Angeles, CA) was heard. Other games on hand (but not played) were Ricochet Rock Jockey, Alien Frontiers, Dino Hunt Dice, Rocket Jockey -- a "Firefly" card game, kinda -- Impossible Machine, and Incan Gold. Overall, 11 people attended, and fun was had by all. Plans were made to attend the showing of "Best of Both Worlds, Pt 1 and 2" in Harrisburg, PA, (at the Harrisburg Stadium 14 -- Regal Hoyts) to enjoy the showing and to recruit for the USS Regulator and the WSSFS. |
