Stealth Invasion of Main Event (Grapevine, TX)
1700 Hrs Members of the USS REGULATOR gathered to reconnoiter this location, for possible future use as a location for a Third Brigade Marine Muster. The landing party consisted of BDR Clark, CDR Clark, MCPT Marchant, LTJG Brulotte, Cmn Brulotte, LTJG Gabbert (and his wife). The bar was perfectly adequate. The beverages were priced reasonably and were prepared well, although the on-tap beer selection did not include my favorites. (Blue Moon was available, at least.) Meeting rooms are available, and can be arranged suitably. They are mostly used for children's birthday parties, but can be reserved for other purposes. Food was a bit expensive, and the menu tended towards pizza & appetizers. Other selections are available if rooms and other activities are reserved. The Lazer Tag area was very nice, and allows 30 people to participate. Assuming the Brigade can field 30 Marines, we can reserve the entire area for our exclusive use. There is also bowling, billiards, video games, and skeeball. The facility will work for a Muster & activity; a Dress Mess would be difficult, but a Field Mess would be do-able. Crew Meeting, ISS Regulator Flip's Patio Grill Fort Worth, TX The mighty crew of the Regulator returned to Flip's Patio Grill for our yearly Mirror Mirror Month Meeting. In attendance were Brigadier Tank Clark, Rear Admiral Liz Goulet, Commander Cynthia Crouch, Commander Tracy Clark, Marine Captain Roon Marchant, Lieutenant Michael Cross, Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Perry Brulotte, Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Sean Washburn, Chief Warrant Officer Glen Wilkerson, Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Goulet, Chief Petty Officer Michelle Goulet, Petty Officer Second Class Karen Chaffin, Crewman Laura Washburn and Crewman Melissa Brulotte. MCPT Marchant was Officer of the Deck, and he brought an unusual, and short, quiz that was won by Cmn Brulotte (with second place going to BDR Clark). The winner of the "How I'd Kill The Captain" story contest was "Secrets," by LT Cross. All of the entries this year were great fun to read, and they are available to download from the home page of the Regulator's web site (ussregulator.weebly.com), as well as from the Mirror site (issregulator.weebly.com). Thanks again to our special judges, MGN Edward Tunis III and MCPT Sarah Hays. After-Action Reports were given. First, three of the Regulator crew attended the Lone Star Warrior's Association's Good Day to Dine in Arlington. LTJG Brulotte, CWO Wilkerson, and Cmn Brulotte represented the ship honorably. Secondly, BDR Clark reported on his & CDR Clark's scouting mission to Fredericksburg (see separate Blog entry). Discussion of future events included the "stealth" mission to Main Event Grapevine next Saturday at 1700; next month's Klingon Dinner Thing in Decatur; the Alliance Air Show in late October; the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes in November; the holiday party in January; and the nominations for the next CO & Department Heads beginning in February, with the election in April. It was also agreed that the crew would be polled regarding a possible change of ship class, hull number, and name, to move the ship's fictional existence to back in the TOS era. When the chapter was formed, the chapter was the USS Comanche, a Galaxy-class starship; ten years later, the chapter became the USS Regulator, an Achilles-class starship. TOS era ship classes mentioned were the Constitution-class (like the original series' Enterprise) and Archer-class (like the USS Sagittarius in the Star Trek: Vanguard and Star Trek: Seekers novel series). It is certainly something to discuss. For the Empire! Clark, commanding Regulator, out. |
